I am and likely always will be a public servant. I have constantly maintained the desire to serve my neighbor and be the protector for those that cannot protect themselves. I am a blue collar guy in a white collar job. My heart has never changed in any position I have held in that regard and I am always willing to be the first through the door at any given moment, running toward the danger, not away from it.
That will not change as District Attorney. The duties may be more challenging, the decisions harder, but my common sense and practical approach to solving complicated issues will not change.
The only way to protect our families and our county is to be tough on crime. We must hold those that make conscious choices to commit crimes accountable for their actions. Through the fair application of the law, my office will send the clear message that the residents of Monroe County will not tolerate criminal behavior.
No one is impacted more than the victims of crime. The District Attorney's Office must be the strongest voice for justice for the victims. As District Attorney I will be the most zealous advocate for those impacted by crime.

First and foremost as a husband and father I want to do whatever I can to protect my family, keep my neighborhood safe and kid friendly, and by extension, our county safe. I have been fortunate to be a member of the law enforcement community in Monroe County and now have the opportunity to take on the responsibilities and duties of what is essentially the "Chief Law Enforcement Officer" position for Monroe County. And although I would no longer be on the front lines as the District Attorney, by combining nearly two decades of law enforcement and legal experience along with my master's degree in Criminal Justice Administration, I will be able to protect the residents of Monroe County by enforcing the law, seeking justice for victims of crime, and leading by example for the fair, unbiased, impartial, and nonpartisan application of the law.
Having both a law enforcement and prosecutorial background, I have observed and investigated all levels of crime. Whether it is street level possession of a controlled substance, complex fraud schemes, or serious crimes against persons and homicides, they all have had an effect on my development as an investigator and as a prosecutor. I have a drive to hold offenders accountable. I believe we, as a county, and as a society in general, cannot become complacent in which we readily accept criminal acts as being something to just overlook. As District Attorney I will work to impress that same drive on my staff and local law enforcement as a whole. I want Monroe County to have the reputation that if you commit a crime in Monroe County, you are not going to get a slap on the wrist, you are gong to be held accountable, and you are going to receive an appropriately proportionate punishment for that crime.
I grew up in a small town where hunting was ingrained in me as part of my upbringing, where firearm deer season is practically another annual holiday. Businesses, schools, and practically everything else shut down for the first couple days to open the season. I became familiar with firearms and firearms safety at an early age. My training and experience as a police officer, U.S. Federal Air Marshal, and criminal investigator has further developed my knowledge and respect for the appropriate use of firearms. Consequently, I firmly believe in our Second Amendment right to own and possess firearms for both hunting and self defense. And as District Attorney I will do everything in my power to uphold all the constitutionally granted rights of the residents of Monroe County.
Mental health is a serious issue and must be handled delicately. For law enforcement it is one of the most challenging scenarios to encounter. It is undeniable that the mental health issues suffered by some significantly contribute to their predilection to commit crimes. From a prosecution standpoint, each case where mental health may be an underlying factor will be carefully evaluated and assessed to determine an appropriate resolution that will balance the necessary treatment needs of the offender and the continued requirement for public safety and the protection of the residents of Monroe County.
From first hand observation as a law enforcement officer, criminal investigator, and assistant district attorney, drug addiction is unfortunately a significant problem in Monroe County. Drug addiction is another undeniable issue that both is criminal in nature in and of itself and is an underlying force compelling those addicted to drugs to commit other types of crimes to continually feed their addiction. Similarly to the cases with mental health, cases where drug addiction is an underlying factor will be carefully evaluated and assessed to determine an appropriate resolution with the end goal of full recovery for the offender. However, my office will neither be lenient nor look the other way on the root cause of drug addiction - the sale and trafficking of illegal narcotics. Combatting drug trafficking in Monroe County will be a major focus of my office.
